Core Values, the Key to Sustainability

Updated: May 30, 2019

“Many people think the value of a company lies in its profitability. In fact, the culture and values of a company are equally important for sustainability,” said Datuk NK Tong at the YYC Share Structure Seminar 2019.

The core values of Quality, Innovation, Caring, and Integrity are the pillars for Bukit Kiara Properties (BKP) to continue growing and delivering innovative lifestyles to its customers.

“Integrity is at the heart of our business, especially in our dealings with suppliers and authorities. Sometimes, it may slow us down a little, but it ensures we are on the right track,” NK added.

NK shared his views on “Succession Planning” to over 600 entrepreneurs at the seminar organised by YYC Accounting Firm and China Press.

BKP’s Chairman and Co-founder Dato’ Alan Tong was at the same seminar, sharing the essence of succession planning from his experience.

“My late father has a big influence on my life. He embarked on a long journey from China to Malaysia at 16. With years of hard work and frugality, he built up a bus company, the Kuala Selangor Omnibus Co.

“He was very frugal with his spending so that he could feed a family of 15. He financed an overseas university education for 7 of his 8 sons to have an overseas university education. When he passed away, he also left 4 small plots of land in Klang and a company which had 34 buses,” said Dato’ Alan Tong.

The credibility demonstrated by his late father and his good reputation, set the foundation for Dato’ Alan Tong when he ventured into the property industry.
